Lucille Ball might have been a screwball, but she was much more than just a funny redhead. Lucille Ball was known to be intelligent, at times serious, and a comedic genius. And we love her for all of those things. She was the perfect combination of beauty and brilliance!

We aren't alone. In the book Desilu: The Story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Desi said spoke of the cast of I Love Lucy, saying:  "Lucy was the show. Viv, Fred and I were just props. Damn good props, but props nevertheless. P.S. I Love Lucy was never just the title." 

Gives me goosebumps just thinking about the kind of affection Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz shared.

I Love Lucy inspired so many of us, cheered up a dreary day, and let's face it -- if it hadn't been made, the world would seem a little less bright.
